The Griffin, a live music venue since 2011, located on Morena Boulevard, recently sold and will be reopening shortly under the new name Sidecar. The new owners, who also operate the Regal Beagle in Mission Hills and the Regal Seagull in Leucadia, intend on shifting the previous concept of a music venue to more of a neighborhood bar with arcade games and program centered around “honest cocktails” and well-chosen selection of craft beers. Paul Ahern of Location Matters represented both the buyer and seller in the sale. |

Carnitas Snack Shack, Del Mar Highlands
The time is finally upon us. Carnitas’ Snack Shack opened their doors in Del Mar Highlands Town Center! Fans have eagerly awaited this momentous occasion all summer long and this makes restaurant number two for the culinary masterminds behind this brand. Thank you to Phil Lyons with Cassidy Turley & Landlord Donahue Schriber for facilitating this dynamic transaction.
Carnitas’ Snack Shack opened their doors in 2011 in the North Park neighborhood, serving up slow food-inspired, pork-centric American cuisine, snacks and locally sourced craft beers. Award winning chef/owner, Hanis Cavin, is known locally for his culinary talents. The menu changes daily because they use local and family farmers, ranchers, bakers, vineyards and breweries. Carnitas’ sources their ingredients as locally as possible to provide customers with the tastiest farm-fresh food! carnitassnackshack.com |

Location Matters' Opening Day at the Races Event
Location Matters hosted their fourth annual Opening Day at The Races Event at their beachside Del Mar office location. Many guests turned out in their racetrack best to enjoy the sun, food, drinks, and hob knob in the fun social atmosphere. Prizes were given away during the raffle drawings and to the two highest craps table winners. A HUGE thanks to our sponsors who helped make the event a phenomenal success: SUJA Juice, DiningOut San Diego, Torrey Pines Bank, Eaton Escrow, Brand Capital Marketing, and Richard & Richard Construction. |

Revamping a Struggling Restaurant |
It takes humility and courage for an owner to admit that their restaurant isn't working. Some, when faced with this realization, will simply throw in the towel and move on. Others, perhaps tied to a long-term lease or with a newly clear vision of an idea that will work in a given location (or possibly both), will shut the whole operation down, revamp their concept sometimes radically and open anew… READ MORE |
