Former China Inn Building Leased; Pueblo coming to Pacific Beach

Opened in 1988, China Inn was an important fixture in the Pacific Beach restaurant scene and had not been on the market for 25 years. Experienced restaurateur and former partner at George’s at the Cove, Mark Oliver, snatched up the space and will be opening Pueblo in 2016 which will add a full-service upscale dining option to the neighborhood. Paul Ahern represented both the Tenant and Landlord in this lease transaction.

We made the cover of March’s edition of Nation’s Restaurants News, which featured the restaurant leasing opportunity at the new San Diego Airport Rental Car Center.

Hillcrest’s R Gang Sells and Transforms Into The Brew Project

Top Chef contestant and local celebrity chef, Rich Sweeney, closed his R Gang chapter to focus on new foodie ventures. Local brewery expert, Beau Schmitt, purchased the restaurant, transforming it into Hillcrest’s first craft beer destination, offering 24 taps of San Diego brewed beer. Mike Spilky represented the Seller in this transaction.

Pali Wine Co. Coming to Little Italy

Lompoc based Pali Wine Co. signed up for 10 years in Little Italy, bringing San Diego their first Pali tasting room on India Street and will open its doors in Spring 2016. Marc Karren represented the Tenant in this transaction.

North Park Retail Building Sells

After being under the same ownership for over 20 years, a 2,500 square foot retail building, located in the hip urban community of North Park, sold for its full asking price. The building sits in the heart of North Park’s 30th Street and is less than one block away from happening University Avenue. Limor Spilky represented the Sellers in this transaction.

Javier Plascencia’s Bracero Cocina de Raiz Opens in Little Italy

Famed Baja Celebrity Chef, Javier Plascencia, introduced San Diego to his modern Mexican inspired restaurant Bracero Cocina de Raiz which was hailed as one of San Diego’s most anticipated restaurants of 2015. Mike Spilky represented the Landlord and Tenant in this transaction.

Nightclub Magnate Tosh Berman Opens Cake Nightclub in The Gaslamp District

Tosh Berman, accomplished nightlife and hospitality veteran of EveryDay Life, introduced his brainchild, CAKE Nightclub, to San Diego’s ever growing nightclub scene this year, taking over the 10,000 square foot space formerly occupied by Voyeur Nightclub. Mike Spilky represented the Seller and Buyer in this transaction.

Twisted Taps Gets Signed for 10 years on El Cajon Boulevard in North Park

Local San Diego craft beer brewery, Twisted Manzanita, signed a 10 year lease in North Park for their new concept, Twisted Taps, an extraordinarily exciting addition at a transitional time in this corridor of El Cajon Boulevard. Mike Spilky represented the Tenant and Landlord in this transaction.

North Park Urban Mixed-Use Property Sale

A mixed-use property in the urban community of North Park on El Cajon Boulevard sold in September. The total building area, which includes two retail storefronts and a detached duplex, is 3,756 square feet and sits on a 7,118 square foot lot. The Sellers originally purchased the building in 2012, for $700,000 and sold it this year for $1,065,000. Limor Spilky represented the Sellers in this transaction.

Iconic University Heights/Hillcrest Flame Building Sells

The Flame building, a single story street retail property in the urban community of University Heights/Hillcrest on Park Boulevard, sold in October for $1,900,000. The new owner is currently developing the property into a mixed-use project adding 6 apartment units and a central courtyard. Mike Spilky represented both the Seller and Buyer in the sales transaction.

The Boardwalk in Mission Beach Sells; Miss B’s Coconut Club Takes Over

Popular Mission Beach restaurant, The Boardwalk, sold after a great 7 year run on one of the busiest corners in the neighborhood, at the intersection of Santa Clara Ave. and Mission Blvd. Miss B’s Coconut Club, a Caribbean-inspired neighborhood cocktail spot, will bring the corner back to life with their fresh new Tiki concept, opening in Spring 2016. Paul Ahern represented the Buyer and Seller in this transaction.

San Francisco Based Ike’s Place Opens in San Diego

Born in San Francisco’s Castro District, Ike’s Place, opened their 18th sandwich shop in November at The HUB | Hillcrest Market. This is the first San Diego location for the specialty sandwich operator who has a massive cult following in Northern California, Los Angeles, and Arizona. Mike Spilky represented both the Landlord and Tenant in this transaction.

We grew Burger Lounge to 19 locations! 2015 added Marina Del Rey, Los Olivos Marketplace in Irvine and Del Sur Town Center in San Diego to their ever growing roster. Mike Spilky exclusively represents Burger Lounge in Southern California.
