Tabu Shabu Coming Soon to North Park

With the close of North Park’s landmark restaurant Paesano, the building underwent an extensive remodel for its new tenant, Tabu Shabu. We are excited for Tabu Shabu to open early this year and share their interactive Japanese style hot pots with North Park in their first San Diego location.

Del Mar Plaza Scores Two New Rockstar Restaurant Tenants

A major refresh of Del Mar Plaza has been underway in 2019. Multi-concept restaurant group, Social Syndicate is opening a beer garden/ restaurant concept, Monarch Ocean Pub, to join in on the revamp. Tamarindo is playing its part by adding their second location of incredible Latin food and drink to the plaza.

Downtown Oceanside’s SALT Becomes Fully Leased with Three New Tenants

The newest mixed-use development in Downtown Oceanside, SALT, welcomed three great new tenants in 2019. Carte Blanche Bistro and Bar will be debuting their new “modern Mexican-meets-French farm house” concept and next to them will be Parlor Doughnuts with their acclaimed layered doughnuts. Lastly, F45 Training gym snagged the final retail space at this exciting project.

La Doña Signs in One Of A Kind Ocean Beach Location

What was home to Nati’s Mexican Restaurant for nearly 60 years closed and went through a massive remodel to house Social Syndicate’s new Mexican concept that pays homage to Nati’s. This extremely rare corner space in Ocean Beach is being remodeled for their new Mexican concept, La Doña.

Bird Rock Coffee Roasters, Giaola and Tabu Shabu Come to Bressi Ranch

In 2019, we added three phenomenal restaurant tenants to The Square in Bressi Ranch. Bird Rock Coffee Roasters has been killing it in their new Carlsbad location. On the rise is Grand Restaurant Group’s new concept, Giaola Italian Kitchen, which will be opening soon and serving wood-fired pizza and freshly-made pasta. Last, but certainly not least is the renowned Tabu Shabu, which will be opening in early 2020 with their delicious Japanese hotpot concept.

New Mediterranean Concepts Make Their Way to The Sky Deck

The owners of Beeside Balcony are introducing two new concepts to The Sky Deck. J at Sky Deck, an upscale New-American meets Mediterranean restaurant that will be located alongside its sister restaurant, Ziziki’s, serving a variety of delicious Greek street food. We can’t wait for Del Mar to experience these great new concepts when The Sky Deck opens in May of 2020.

Cody’s La Jolla Scored Bigger and Better Ocean View Location

With new incredible views of the ocean and more room to grow, we are ecstatic to have helped Cody’s find a new place to call home last year. This new location on Prospect Street in La Jolla has been a huge success with their familiar dishes, staff, and warm culture that we all know and love.

Iceskimo and El Tianguis Join Otay Ranch

Otay Ranch’s new shopping center, Millenia gained two San Diego based restaurant tenants this year, Iceskimo and El Tianguis. Iceskimo is bringing their uber-unique shaved snow concept from Convoy and El Tianguis from North Park will be expanding their rolled tacos concept with this second location. We are excited for both to open in early 2020 and knock it out of the park.

Owner of McFadden’s Brings New Concept to Gaslamp

With the close of Florent on a prime corner in the heart of Gaslamp, Location Matters negotiated the lease to a brand new tenant. In this rare space, the owner of McFadden’s created a new, American concept, The Sign of the Whale.

Del Sur Town Center Becomes Fully Leased With Swami’s Café

In 2019 the Del Sur community’s prayers for a great breakfast concept were answered with the arrival of Swami’s. The opening of Swami’s 12th location in Del Sur Town Center officially made the center fully leased. It was a pleasure leasing this project and working with Shea Properties and all the wonderful restauranteurs that made Del Sur the restaurant hub it is today.

Giving Back

We feel very blessed by all the success 2019 has brought us, and even more blessed to have the ability to give back. This April the Location Matters team volunteered with Feeding San Diego to pack produce packages to pass out to families in need at our local San Diego schools. We felt fortunate to help an organization like Feeding San Diego in their endeavor to end hunger through food rescue.
